1Endings on the full infinitive

The endings -é, -ás, -á, -emos, -éis, -án attach to the full infinitive.

  • Mañana hablaré con ella.Tomorrow I will talk with her.
  • Comeremos a las dos.We will eat at two.

2Same endings for all verbs

-ar, -er and -ir verbs share the same endings; only the infinitive changes.

  • Vivirás en Madrid.You will live in Madrid.
  • Vivirán juntos.They will live together.

3Irregular stems

Some verbs use a special stem like tendr-, podr- or har-, but the endings stay the same.

  • Tendré tiempo el lunes.I will have time on Monday.tener: tendr-
  • No podremos venir.We won't be able to come.poder: podr-
  • ¿Qué harás después?What will you do afterward?hacer: har-

4Predictions

The futuro states what you expect or predict will happen.

  • Será un buen día.It will be a good day.
  • Dirán que sí.They will say yes.decir: dir-

5Conjecture about the present

The futuro can express a guess about something happening now (probably, must be).

  • Estará en casa ahora.He must be at home now.
  • Querrán descansar.They probably want to rest.querer: querr-

  • El año que viene viviré en España.Next year I will live in Spain.
  • Pondremos la mesa más tarde.We will set the table later.
